Senior Week Schedule
Details of the full Senior Week schedule can be found here
Each year President Zimmer holds a reception at his house for all graduating fourth-years. We invite you to join your classmates for this event. This year's President's Reception will take place on Sunday, June 8th. As this is a nicer event, we recommend that students dress business casual for this event. All fourth-years will receive an email invitation for this event and we request that students RSVP by the noted deadline.
We hope you plan to attend the Senior Baccalaureate Ceremony on Friday, June 13th at 3:00 pm in Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. Families are welcome to attend and tickets are not required for the event. Overflow space is available in Max Palevsky Cinema in Ida Noyes Hall. For those of you who don’t know what a Baccalaureate ceremony is, the ceremony will celebrate your four years in the College with readings, student memories and a slideshow, performing arts groups, as well as the Remains of Education address.
Remains of Education Nominations
Nominations for the Remains of Education have not opened yet.
Another bookend to your College orientation four years ago, graduates and their families are invited to a dessert reception at the Museum of Science and Industry on Friday, June 13th. Tickets are not required for this event. The museum will be open from 7:30-10:30 pm, with a toast to the Class of 2014 and the presentation of the Senior Class Gift at 8:30 pm in the main rotunda. Parking is free.
The Senior Night at the Pub is yearly tradition, which occurs three times throughout the academic year at the Pub in Ida Noyes Hall. This is a great opportunity for fourth-years to get together with classmates. In addition, the first 300 students to arrive to each event receive a unique pub glass, which is designed by a fellow fourth-year.
The Pub Nights for 2013-2014 are as follows:
Fall Quarter: Wednesday, December 4 @ 8:00 PM
Winter Quarter: Wednesday, March 12 @ 8:00 PM
Spring Quarter: Wednesday, June 4 @ 8:00 PM
We hope to see you there!
So now that you are about to graduate, it might be slightly embarrassing to admit you still don't know your alma mater. Although we have taken every opportunity to make the music and lyrics avaiable to you, we figured one more time wouldn't hurt. You can find the alma mater here
The events surrounding graduation itself are a tradition in their own right. The University celebrates a convocation at the end of every academic quarter and for special occassions such as the inauguration of a new University president. Spring 2014 marks the 519th University convocation. In the Spring of 2010 after several years of four separate graduations for different schools and divisions, the University brought back a University-wide convocation for all graduating students, returning to William Rainey Harper's notion of one unified University. The University-wide convocation is now followed by separate diploma ceremonies for the College, the divisions, and the professional schools.
The College even has some of its own special traditions. In addition to our favorite bookend events like the MSI Reception and the Remains of Education Address, enjoy your walk back through Hull Gate. Remember when you left your families at the gate cheering you on as you entered the College? See their smiling faces and tear-y eyes again as you walk through the same gate towards your graduation and your future.
